This is my first ever blog post on the site. I'm going to try my absolute hardest to keep this updated on all that I shoot. I'll be giving the blog more photos than what is seen on my Instagram or anywhere else for that matter. These posts are going to be recaps of my nights and days of shooting.
I want to start with Grotto Mania which I covered last month. Grotto Mania was probably one of the most hype shows I've been at in the Baltimore area in a while. The line up just being stacked with Baltimore talent from Malik Ferraud, Zheep, Butch Dawson, Soduh, Tate Kobang and more. My goal is always to come out with iconic/timeless imagery when I shoot. I came out with not only that but I felt like I also captured the energy of that night. I showed up to the show as soon as the doors were open. I instantly started to talk to people and network. Just a sidetone, I was not invited or hired by anyone to shoot the event. I took the chance of going myself and seeing if I could finesse my way in. Once the first couple DJ sets were done I caught myself running back and forth from the stage to backstage just continually shooting throughout the night. The energy in the venue was crazy. One big highlight being Butch Dawson's performance of his single "Feel Nobody". The crowd was hollering the lyrics, something I don't usually see from the local shows. Another highlight being Soduh's performance in the middle of the audience near the end of his set. Covering Grotto Mania made me feel like I was covering some Baltimore rap history. In a way Grotto Mania was historic being a night full of artists who have the potential of going big places.
